Ayurvedic Foods

classifies foods by their taste (rasa) as sweet, sour, salty,
bitter, pungent or astringent. Foods are also classified by their
quality (guna) as light or heavy, warm or cool, dry or unctuous.
Some
foods are especially valued by ayurvedic healers because they
are particularly pure or therapeutic (sattvic) or because they
have special nourishing or cleansing qualities.
